Designing a Future-Ready Academic Laboratory
Client: Center for Advance Studies, AKTU
Project: Various Academic and Research Laboratories Designs
Location: Lucknow, India
Sector: Education / Science & Research
The Challenge
Our client—a prestigious academic institution—sought to develop a new laboratory space that could support cutting-edge research and hands-on learning in fields of Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Mechatronics, Energy laboratories. The goal was to create an environment that balances functionality, safety, and adaptability while meeting evolving pedagogical needs and compliance standards.
Our Approach
We began with a comprehensive needs analysis in close collaboration with faculty, researchers, and facility managers. Key considerations included:
- Optimizing spatial layout for collaborative and individual work
- Integrating modern lab technologies and utilities
- Ensuring robust ventilation and chemical safety systems
- Future-proofing for flexible reconfiguration
- Compliance with international lab safety and academic standards
Using 3D modeling and workflow simulations, we tested multiple layouts before finalizing the design.
The Outcome
The result is a high-performance laboratory that supports both teaching and research. Key features include:
- Ergonomic, modular workstations
- Smart storage and chemical handling zones
- Enhanced lighting and ventilation systems
- Seamless integration of AV and digital teaching tools
- Space for interdisciplinary collaboration
Feedback from students and faculty has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting improved workflow, safety, and a more engaging learning experience.
Why It Matters
This project underscores our commitment to designing educational spaces that are not just technically sound—but inspiring, flexible, and future-ready. We’re proud to contribute to the next generation of scientific discovery and innovation.
